BIOGRAPHY

The Chief

It was long ago that the "Great Spirit" brought us to this land... He taught us the ways of "Mother Earth," and of the Bounty. Jon Zimmer, "Walks Alone," is acutely aware of those blessings, and has been capturing them on paper and canvas since age four. He was born in Central Wisconsin, and with lots of encouragement from a special grandmother, he pursued and developed his drawing skills. Subject matter was not ever an issue - especially with the abundance of wildlife he found in this midwestern locale.

One of Jon's earliest recollections was a visit to Wisconsin Dells, where he attended the "Stand Rock Indian Ceremonial." It was his first encounter with Native America. He began researching his own roots and discovered that he was of Ojibwa descent. This launched him into a lifetime of research about America's first inhabitants. Much of his artwork is now centered around that research and the cultures, lifestyles and legends that he has discovered. His first love, however, remains the drawing and painting of wildlife!

All works are in print form, are signed, and some are signed and numbered in limited editions. Works are also available with double matting, ready for framing. All are shipped flat.
